New work !

...been back at it ...and have some new pieces done!  The first one was done for the 2nd Annual Nude Show at Bethel Street Gallery in downtown Honolulu.  The show opens tonight, in conjunction with the monthly "First Friday" extravaganza held in Chinatown.  As an added treat, Hoku award winning duo Na Palapalai will be playing at Bethel Street, along with Kupaoa.  Should be a good time!!!  This piece is called "Morning Becomes..."

I will post the second new one in a few days!

Little Bits of This and That

Keeping all the balls I juggle up in the air can be a challenge on the best of occasions...in this economy, it becomes an imperative!  As well as what (I consider) I do best, which is painting, I am always on the hunt for alternate "venues" for my images.  In that vein, I was lucky to be contacted by some old classmates to do a wedding invitation for them...what a pleasure that was!  (and I got to have coffee with them twice!)

That got me thinking...I offer notecards sets as part of my "art inspired products" line...why not offer a custom option for people who are looking for something a little different in wedding invitations, baby luaus, milestone birthdays, etc....

So, watch for a new section in the next couple of weeks, where I detail the specifics of what I can offer you in a custom notecard/invitation.  If you want to know more in the meantime, please feel free to contact me directly and we'll get to work on your request!!

...and there are some other things on the horizon...keep checking back!

Laboring on Labor Day - and my odd reason for liking holidays

I love holidays...but not for the typical reasons.  I'm not big on big picnics in the park (or the inherent preparation involved with that (what kind of "holiday" is that?)...or making them the few times of the year that you spend with relatives (I'd rather do that all year long!)....no...I love holidays because the phone doesn't ring, the leaf blowers are silent, the din of the dumptruck back-up beep across the way isn't echoing throughout the valley...in essence...quiet...peaceful, bird-chirping quiet!

This is when I get my best work done.  And when I'm saying that I'm "laboring on Labor Day" it is truly a labor of love.  Painting is what I do for a living, but I do live to paint, so is that really work?

I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday, in whatever form or fashion works best for you...enjoy your beach time, picnic time, hammock time, as much as I am enjoying my quiet time!!!  Its back to it tomorrow!!!

Right brain vs Left brain and some other stuff...

Hello my friends....

Thank you all for being so patient while my left brain fought with my right brain!! I made a mistake in the way I transferred my domain name (the website address) to a new service...that mistake caused the website to be down for a week while all the transferring processed. <sigh> But hey...I'm back up and running now and have been adding things today!

I've added some samples of my commission work - wanted to give you another look at some of the kinds of things I can do. I've also added some more of the "art inspired products" that I have in my bag of tricks. Am still working on the pricelist so if you have a question, please feel free to contact me!

Next weekend is the annual "Made In Hawaii Festival"...this will be the first year, in quite awhile, that I won't be participating. However, I encourage everyone to go and support the vendors and artists that will be there! I hope to be doing some smaller art fairs this fall, and I will let you know as that develops.
